XNGP Comprehensive Upgrade: "Three Unrestricted" Defines the "User-Friendly Nationwide" Standard

At the conference, He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng Motors, officially announced the comprehensive upgrade of XNGP from "available nationwide" to "user-friendly nationwide," and proposed the three major standards of "user-friendly nationwide": unrestricted by cities, routes, or road conditions.

Unrestricted by cities means that the coverage of XNGP has expanded to all cities in the country, truly breaking free from the constraints of high-precision maps and introducing high-level smart driving into the end-to-end large model era.In fact, XNGP had the capability to be "usable nationwide" as early as the beginning of this year, but to ensure the safety of intelligent driving, Xiaopeng Motors spent over half a year conducting large-scale real-vehicle testing. Currently, XNGP is the only industry vehicle that has been tested and verified in over 2595 cities (including prefecture-level and county-level cities in China), with a cumulative testing mileage exceeding 7.56 million kilometers. Moreover, the AI training has been generalized to expand the intelligent driving system across all cities in the country, demonstrating an industry-rare saturation of intelligent driving tests to convey a high regard for the safety of intelligent driving.

The term "no route restrictions" refers to the application of XNGP on all public roads within the country, with the concept that "where there is navigation, there is AI intelligent driving." In the latest public beta version of XNGP, the AI driver is already capable of automatically passing through ETC toll stations. It is expected that by the fourth quarter of 2024, XNGP will bridge the "disconnects" in intelligent driving, including ETC toll stations, parking lot gates, and internal roads of parks, to achieve a true "door-to-door" experience.

"No road condition restrictions" means that XNGP can adapt to complex road conditions, including U-turns, roundabouts, and narrow roads, becoming the first AI intelligent driving system to cover all complex road conditions. Traditional intelligent driving assistance systems based on rule-based code could only "pre-adapt" to complex scenarios like roundabouts and U-turns by having engineers write a large number of corresponding rule codes, with a very low success rate. With the end-to-end large model that has been mass-produced and enabled, XNGP has effectively enhanced its "brain filling" learning ability, achieving "learning while driving," and can respond in real-time to the complex and variable scenarios of roundabouts and U-turns.

Currently, Xiaopeng Motors' intelligent driving is in the first stage of "being good to use nationwide," and it is expected to achieve the capabilities of the second stage of "being good to use nationwide" by the fourth quarter of 2024.
